Florida Book Drive: Call for Donations
Hi everyone:
Last year, the students, faculty, and friends of the Department of Geography at the University of Florida helped to raise nearly $600 in donations to send 600 lbs. of donated books to support a community library in western Uganda.
During my summer field work in 2006, I have worked with two other researchers to expand the library network from 1 to 4 rural libraries The newest rural community library at Nkingo was established in August 2006 in an empty store front.
I need your help stocking the shelves of this new library. Beginning February 15, 2007 I will be collecting books to send to Uganda in March.
Donations of new/gently used books and some magazines are gladly accepted.
- Textbooks of any kind, for any level
- Children, teens, and adults fiction/non-fiction
- National Geographic Magazines
Cash donations are also accepted, since sending the books to Uganda is quite expensive (nearly $1/lb.).
Please leave your book donations in 3014 Turlington Hall (Poehling Lab) or at Wild Iris Books (802 W University Ave) in the boxes marked "Uganda Library".
All cash donations can be submitted to Dr. Peter Waylen (3141 Turlington Hall). Checks can be made to Joel Hartter (memo line: Uganda Library)

Thanks for your continued support!
